ASESEWA A D/A BASIC SCHOOL LEARN UNDER DILAPIDATED STRUCTURE


The pupils of Asesewa 'A' District Assembly Basic School in the Upper Many Krobo of the Eastern Region currently have classes under palm branches shed. Sadly, the whole school structures are in a deplorable state with part of the classroom roof ripped off but pupils and teachers learn under it at the mercy of the weather condition. The headmaster of the school, Mr Johnson Anime (Olympic) said, the enrolment of the school is 467 from class one to JHS 3. He added that the school has nothing to boast of in terms of structures and materials to enhance teaching and learning. "The school has rented a room outside the school premises to keep books and accessories whose monthly payments are 10 Ghana cedes and now increased to 20 Ghana cedes a month," he said. Challenges The school has no office, the school has no teacher common room, the school has no library, the school has no computer laboratory, the school lack furniture, the school has no equipped environment, the school has no lavatory, the pupils enjoy classes with snakes and reptile due to no doors and windows. The school is encroached upon by individuals, the school is a cattle wrench. Mr Anime said, despite the setback, teachers render diligent service hoping for a turnaround for the pupils but according to him the mess of the school does not promote effective teaching and learning as the school is in several distresses. The School Management Council (SMC) chairman, Mr Thomas Better added that the school is in a dilapidated state to collapse and appeal to the Ghana Education Service, and District Assembly to pay immediate attention to the school to avoid danger pose to the lives of the children. Hon. BismarkTetteh Dark, a member of parliament for the constituency, has indicated that he has made a move to acquire land to relocate the school due to a delay of common funds for the process. He added that the school which was established in 2005 has no access road and has assured of relocation would be the best option. The allerg suspect in the demise of a covered in the lady kitchen of a private condo at Sikafuambantem a suburb of Mankessim in the Focal District has been captured at his refuge. The capture occurred at Akwa Krom in the Ekumfi Area.
